Whew, onto January!! Well, at least I'm into the current year now! : )
Of course, the big event in January is Scott's birthday!! He turned 12 years old--now we have 2 priesthood holders in the house!!! YAY!! : )
He celebrated with family and had fun with some friends.
Some other cool things that happened..
OK, so the first one is more tragic than fun....but anyway, I was getting ready to take the Christmas tree down and found an egg sack. I didn't actually know that's what it was until I saw a bunch of baby praying mantises crawling all over under the tree!!!!!!
I read up on this and found out that the females lay the egg sack and they are basically insulated through the winter. The eggs hatch when the weather warms up in the spring. I guess because the tree was in the house, the sack thought it was spring, so the babies hatched.
The little one pictured above was about the size of a dime--they were teeny, tiny!!!
The problem--mantises are meat-eaters--there was no meat in the house for them to eat, plus they were super tiny, so I'm guessing most, if not all, either starved, were stepped on or froze because they were still on the tree when I hauled it outside in the snow! : (
I was traumatized!
The next event was way more fun! I was driving to a wrestling meet (I think) and saw the most amazing sunset!!! These pictures were all from the same sunset!!
Then Nathan lost his other front tooth!!! : ) What a great smile!! I just love it!!
Then we went into a little baking frenzy! We made English toffee, Puppy Chow (a.k.a. Muddy Buddies--and probably a dozen other names), and some peanut brittle...Nathan helped with the Puppy Chow by shaking the bag while doing the Gangnam Style dance (insert eye-rolling emoticon here!!).
Everything turned out pretty good--it went FAST--just like the month of January!!!
I think that was pretty much it for January! Now onto February......
