Campfires & Nature

So we had our first campfire of the summer--I LOVE campfires!!! : ) Nathan's quite the little fire-bug himself! While I don't have a picture of Nathan running around with a smoking stick (just one of his favorite campfire activities!) I do have a picture of one of his next favorite campfire activities--marshmallows!!! He's pretty versatile--he'll take them roasted or not-roasted!! : ) Cutie! 

Then there's Scott with--I kid you not--a smiley face roasted marshmallow!!! I couldn't believe it! He was about to pop it in his mouth when I saw it; I told him not to move while I ran for the camera (serves me right for not just bringing it out with me, huh?). Anyway, by the time I got back, the marshmallow was a little droopy, but I think you can still picture it...

OK, so Alan's picture isn't so much about the campfire as his "cool new knife"!! He loves it! This isn't a very good picture of it, but it actually is kinda cool--I like the handle! Look at his sweet little face admiring his "new toy", *sigh*......

Then of course we had the great fire-fly chase! I'm not sure which Nathan was more amazed by--the fact that their little bottoms light up.....or what comes out of their little bottoms!! Kid you not, fire-fly poop, right there! Ah, life with boys......gotta love it!!!

Then of course Scott needed a picture of his new friend! (If you look REAL close you can see a little spec on his shirt.....yes folks, that is indeed a fire-fly! : )  

And if all that weren't exciting enough, we actually have 2-3 bats that regularly fly around our back yard looking for dinner in the evening. It's really fun to watch them flying--not so easy to get pictures! Maybe I need a new camera......hmmmm......

Brand new to blogging!

So enough people (including one of my boys) has bugged me long enough about starting one of these up, that I thought I'd give it a try.....we'll see how well I do!! : ) I guess I'll have to take more pictures than the usual holiday ones!! I was a lot more motivated to grab the camera when my boys were younger--they did a lot more cute things then I think--now they're just ornery and cranky half the time and bugging each other the rest of the time! Ah, but I still love them!

Recent Events

OK, so I figured I'd go ahead and start posting stuff now--might as well, right?!?!

So Alan survived NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training) through Boy Scouts! I thought the program sounded really cool--I didn't hear about some of this stuff until I was a member of the leadership team in the foster care network where I worked!! I'm not sure he fully appreciates the information yet (since he hasn't even figured out how to keep his bedroom floor clean), but I'm hopeful!! : )

Scott was so excited to earn a medal for having the fourth highest points in his whole school in this on-line math game/contest!! Yea for Scott--clever little bugger!!

Nathan graduated from pre-school!! YEA!! I'm just hoping we all survive Kindergarten!!! Seriously, we've had our boys attend the same pre-school/day care (Evergreen Children's Center) for nearly 11 years now! We love them! 

So, my first class on the road to teaching was a success!! I officially got an "A"!!  YEA!! (Whew!) and met some sweet, sweet girls!! We worked in groups and two of the girls were just totally cute (even if I was old enough to be their Mom!)!! Anyway, they gave me some treats at the end of class and a "Golden Ticket" that entitled me to one lunch with the two of them--cuties!!
