Supurb September 2012

Wow! Apparently not much happened in September, so this will be a quick post. I took Nate and Scott camping with some folks from the ward. (Alan couldn't go because he had a cross country meet early Saturday morning.) We had a good time and the boys got to do some fishing! : )
Nathan learned to cast.....

He thought it was pretty funny that he caught a stick!

Even Scott got to fish some...
Alan wasn't able to stay because he had a cross country meet....
Check out those leg muscles! Pretty impressive!
I finally downloaded the videos from my camera and wanted to try to put up a video of Alan sprinting the 100 m dash from this past spring. I love watching his little legs just pumping! And look at that game face! Cutie! : )
Oh my gosh, I was about to call this one done, when I remembered that I completely forgot to post a rather momentous occasion for Scott back in August!!! So, I think I said how excited/nervous Scott was about starting middle school, well if all that wasn't enough....
(ready for a long story?)...
The Friday of the first week of school Scott came home from his friend's house telling a story about how he fell playing something in the yard and he hurt his side. That's not really anything new, so I told him he probably just pulled a muscle and should rest. Saturday morning, he was still complaining about his side hurting. He didn't have a fever or any other symptoms so again I told him he probably just pulled a muscle and should rest. So, Sunday morning he's playing downstairs with Nathan, no problems. I tell them to get ready for church and then he starts saying his side hurts. I figured he was just being a pill so I told him to get ready. We got to church and he starts getting teary, which is not like him so I have John take him home. Sunday night, still no fever, but he says he's stomach doesn't feel good. Monday morning he goes to the Dr. at 9:00 a.m. John sends me a text saying that Scott's going for an ultrasound to rule out appendicitis (I had an appointment or something). Really?!? Kids get that?!? A little while later he sends another text "going to Children's for appendectomy". WHAT?!? Seriously?!? Yup! At 9:00 p.m. he was prepped, by 11:30 he was done. By 12:00 he was asking for soup! The whole time he was waiting at Children's to have his surgery (there were like three others ahead of him for the same surgery!), all he could think about was how hungry he was because he hadn't eaten anything since breakfast! Anytime anyone would ask him anything he would answer by saying something about eating! Before they wheeled him away he asked if he could have soup when he was done. When he got back to his room, half asleep and out of it, the first thing he said was "I want some soup." Then he went back to sleep.
Here's the cool gown!
Here's the cool bed!!
Here's the cool remote!
Here's the not so cool set up they had in his arm--
they couldn't find a vein anywhere!
Sharing the cool bed with Nathan who came to visit. (Alan was there too, but was more worried about his brother than he was impressed with the bed--although he'd never admit it!)
So there you go! No broken bones for anyone, but Scott was the first of the boys to have stitches and now the first of the boys to have surgery (unless you count the tubes he had in his ears, then it would be two surgeries)!
